Leadership Summit 2009
a one-day presentation as part of the largest health and safety conference in Canada

The fourth annual Leadership Summit will take place as a stand-alone event on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, during the second day of IAPA’s Health & Safety Canada 2009 Conference & Trade Show, an annual conference taking place in Toronto at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from April 20 – 22, 2009.  The Leadership Summit will serve to motivate attendees and help them transform their workplace culture, enabling them to attract and retain their greatest asset – their employees, using imagination, innovation, and inspiration as the necessary building blocks to establishing and maintaining a winning culture. Emphasizing a new way of doing business, the Summit will focus on:

  • Imaginative thinking about how to design workplace environments that ignite employees and improve effectiveness
  • Innovative initiatives that target key success factors of a winning culture
  • The inspiring true story of an organization’s drive to regenerate its culture

The Leadership Summit opens with a keynote address by Former Yahoo! Leadership Coach and best-selling author Tim Sanders, who is on a mission to transform the workplace – and society at large.  Sanders has just released his latest book entitled, Saving The World At Work: What Companies and Individuals Can Do to Move from Making a Profit to Making a Difference.

The Leadership Summit culminates with a networking reception hosted by The Conference Board of Canada for the CEO Health & Safety Leadership Charter members and Summit attendees. The Charter was launched at IAPA’s Health & Safety Canada 2005.  Championed by Duncan Hawthorne, President & CEO of Bruce Power, the Charter was created to help achieve a Canada-wide breakthrough in health and safety performance. Members have committed to work together to improve health and safety performance through sharing, mentoring, and coaching.

ATTENTION MEDIA:   IAPA is now accepting applications for the 2009 IAPA Russ Ramsay Media Awards for Excellence in Health and Safety Reporting. All Ontario trade and consumer media – print (newspapers or magazines), radio, and television – distributed and broadcast in Ontario are invited to submit pieces of work focusing on workplace health and safety. Only work published or aired between January 1 and December, 31, 2008 will be eligible. For award consideration, all materials must be submitted to IAPA by Tuesday, February 3, 2009.
