To work alongside Canada’s leading workplace health
and safety organizations at the Centre for Health & Safety Innovation
(CHSI) is exciting. CHSI visitors feel this excitement the moment they
walk through the doors. As IAPA has grown in size and influence over the
last 90 years, so has their passion for preventing workplace injuries
and illness. It is this passion and leadership that has made CHSI a reality.
Congratulations and Happy Birthday!

I have had so much fun being a volunteer with the IAPA
for the last six years. It has been a wonderful learning experience and
I have made many great friends.
The most rewarding experience for me was being a Young Worker Awareness
Program (YWAP) presenter. At first I was very nervous presenting, but
that feeling soon disappeared. I loved getting the teenagers involved
and I feel this was a very worthwhile use of my time. IAPA gave me the
best resources to present with including handouts, literature and the
video. IAPA also gave me excellent training, mentoring and resources.
I got so involved in doing YWAP presentations; it became one of my life's
hobbies. I loved it and I thank the IAPA for giving me this great opportunity.
Happy Birthday IAPA.

On behalf of all of us at Minerva Canada, let me take
this opportunity to wish your IAPA organization and all its folks a very
Happy 90th Birthday. IAPA has benefited folks from all walks of life and
of all ages in its 90 years. Over that time, it truly has made a difference
in the well being of Canadians and in promoting healthier and safer workplaces.
It has always been there for the youth of our country and it was instrumental
in bringing more health and safety education into all our Canadian universities
and colleges back in the eighties through Project Minerva in North America.
It had the foresight to continue this educational mission for our Canadian
youth by helping to create Minerva Canada in 1997 and continuing to be
a very active sponsor of it ever since. No other organization in Canada
or the USA had that foresight. We are truly proud of our association with
IAPA and we are very thankful of the commitment that you have personally
demonstrated for Minerva Canada. Happy 90th Birthday to IAPA and all the
best for another 90 years.

I can’t think of a better way to assist tomorrow’s
workforce and employers in making a difference in workplace safety than
through volunteering as an IAPA Young Worker Awareness Program (YWAP)
facilitator. I take great pride in being able to help today’s youth
– tomorrow’s workers -- by making them aware of what they
may face when they enter the workforce. If my volunteering contribution
can prevent one young worker from suffering a workplace injury/accident,
my time has been well served. The stories one hears while interacting
with the "presently working" student population only solidifies
the need for such a program and my involvement. Thank you to IAPA for
an opportunity to enrich myself as well as others.

I will always remember the time we (Humber Division)
held the very first all Ontario narrow aisle reach truck competition in
1985. To make an impression and to get firms to participate, we had the
course set up in the Royal York Hotel which was quite an achievement as
we were told it just could not be done in H.M., the Queen’s Hotel.

IAPA is an essential ingredient in any health and safety
program at the workplace. Without them, the program suffers and lacks
pizzazz. My experience with IAPA has been nothing short of amazing. The
staff is always friendly and proudly displays a welcoming smile. IAPA
is the backbone to our networking groups and safety groups. These networking
groups are an excellent opportunity to meet colleagues in the area and
share best practices and experiences. And with WSIB, the Safety Group
program is one that is going to bring our safety programs to a level that
has not been achieved in the past. IAPA keeps us on our toes by providing
us with up to date news from the Ministry of Labour. And, we cannot fail
to mention the outstanding training that IAPA offers. There is always
something available to aid in the development of new programs at the workplace
or update some existing programs. Our risk assessment program was a huge
success thanks to the training and guidance of the IAPA. IAPA also sponsors
programs like the Young Worker Awareness Program. Although I am fairly
new to this program, my experience has been one of great enjoyment. It
is a program that I believe in wholeheartedly, and if we can get through
to the young adults of our community, maybe we can prevent a tragedy.
Another favourite event is the Eastern Ontario Health and Safety Trade
and Conference Show. IAPA and their volunteers do an outstanding job delivering
this annual event! Kudos to an event that keeps growing and growing! I
can’t say enough about IAPA…all I know, is that without you,
the awareness of safety in our workplace would be at a level that would
have devastating results. Thank you for your guidance and leadership…it
is very much appreciated.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of
IAPA and its members. I have learned so much from the experiences and
knowledge that each member brings to the table. The opportunity to talk
to the students through the YWAP Program has also been an opportunity
of a lifetime, it has made me realize that health and safety is more than
just the workplace and it involves more than just workers, it affects
young and old, families, friends and most importantly our personal lives.
I look forward to being a member and volunteer for the IAPA for many
years to come, I know it can only get better, we have too good a group
of people across Canada for us to fail.
Here is to everyone going home with 8 Fingers, 2 Thumbs and 10 Toes.

When I entered the health and safety field at Standard
Auto glass in 1971 and needed assistance with our worker's compensation
claims and workplace inspections, I was very happy to know that IAPA would
come to our location and give me a hand. Within the next twelve months
and the start of a safety program, we received a rebate from the WCB.
Thanks to your helpful group of consultants who every year after, came
to aid us with IAPA programs that work!

This progressive organization continues to do extraordinary things to
further health and safety in this province and beyond. The interactions
I’ve had with IAPA on and off over the last eight years has left
me with the sense that this is an organization that is committed to the
well being of workers, offering services and products that are delivered
professionally and with a purpose. I am honoured to be now associated
with IAPA in helping to shape its ongoing journey as we collectively focus
our resources and energies on achieving ZERO accidents in Ontario. HAPPY
90th BIRTHDAY IAPA!!!
