IAPA’s Awards Program Helps Ensure Workplace Health and Safety

Mississauga, Ontario – July 19, 2007 – Today, IAPA (Industrial Accident Prevention Association) presented Hydroform Solutions with a Level I Health & Safety Achievement Award. This is the first IAPA achievement award for the Brampton, Ontario facility, which manufactures automobile parts.

Hydroform Solutions redeveloped its health and safety manual using the ISO 18001 standard as a guideline. Numerous initiatives have been launched to engage management and employees in health and safety policies. These include: monthly employee meetings about health and safety issues, daily and monthly shop floor inspections, and fully operational emergency response teams for fire, evacuation, and press entrapment. In addition, Hydroform Solutions has been a member of IAPA Safety Group for the past two years.

“You have shown that health and safety is a priority for this facility and its employees.” says Simon Hussain, IAPA Consultant, who presented Hydroform Solutions with the award. “The implementation of workplace training programs and employee engagement in health and safety policies shows that this facility is on its way to becoming the healthiest and safest workplace possible. IAPA looks forward to seeing Hydroform Solutions reach the next level of health and safety excellence.”

“The commitment to a safe and healthy workplace is shown by all the Hydroform Solutions employees in the receipt of this prestigious award.” says Anoop Singh, General Manager of Hydroform Solutions. “This occasion marks a significant milestone in our journey towards a systematic, dedicated approach to health and safety management, and the dedication our employees have shown in maintaining a proactive approach in achieving health and safety excellence.”

Hydroform Solutions received the Level I Achievement Award after IAPA conducted an on-site verification on June 19, 2007. The company’s health and safety management program met the criteria needed to be recognized for this award. In addition, Hydroform Solutions completed the self-assessment report and met IAPA award requirements, such as prevention methods, legislative compliance, management practices, and lost-time injury frequencies.

IAPA’s three-level health and safety awards program was launched in 2002. The program is designed to celebrate an organization’s journey towards achieving workplace health and safety excellence. Since the inception of the program, 39 companies have received the Level I Health and Safety Achievement Award.
