Stamptek Receives First IAPA Health & Safety Achievement Award

Mississauga, Ontario – September 10, 2009 – StampTek of Toronto, Ontario received its first IAPA Health & Safety Achievement Award today. The Level I Award was presented this afternoon at its facility where it manufactures steel components for office furniture.

StampTek has consistently improved its health and safety program over the past few years. The company implemented a number of initiatives to prioritize the health and safety of its staff. To accomplish this goal, staff receive training, production area representatives sit on the Joint Health and Safety Committee, and milestones are celebrated for achieving specific metrics on the health and safety scorecard.

"StampTek is a great example of how the IAPA Achievement Award program helps firms set and reach their health and safety goals," says Trevor Beauchamp, Acting Manager, Consulting Services (Greater Toronto Area). "Everyone at StampTek is actively engaged in the journey towards health and safety excellence. The foundation has been set to create a healthy workplace and StampTek has made a commitment to continue building and strengthening their health and safety program. That commitment and hard work has been recognized today with the Level I Award."

“StampTek is proud of the achievements made over the years in improving its health and safety program,” says Jay Regan, Vice President and General Manager, StampTek. “In 2008, we reviewed the IAPA Health & Safety Achievement Award criteria and decided that this would be an excellent framework to help us improve our health and safety program. Consequently, StampTek set the goal of achieving the Level I IAPA Award in 2009. Having reached this objective, StampTek will now target 2010 to achieve the Level II Award.”

To be eligible for the award, StampTek completed a self-assessment report to determine if it met IAPA’s award requirements, which included prevention methods, legislative compliance, management practices, and lost-time injury frequencies. This was followed up with an on-site verification by IAPA of the company’s health and safety management program on July 21, 2009.

IAPA’s three-level health and safety awards program was launched in 2002. The program is designed to celebrate an organization’s journey towards achieving workplace health and safety excellence. Since the inception of the program, 51 companies have received the Level I Health and Safety Achievement Award.
