IAPA Raises $10,000 for Safe Kids Canada
at its Annual Golf Tournament
Mississauga, Ontario – August 19, 2009 – IAPA (Industrial Accident Prevention Association) raised $10,000 for Safe Kids Canada, the national injury prevention program of The Hospital for Sick Children, at its golf tournament held on August 18, 2009. The annual event, in its seventh year, took place at the Glen Eagle Golf Club in Caledon, Ontario.
IAPA General Manager, Michael Abromeit presented the cheque to Manager of Government Relations and Public Policy, Erik Cuzzolino, Safe Kids Canada at a dinner held after the tournament. Since the tournament began in 2003, it has raised more than $65,150 for Safe Kids Canada.
More than 125 golfers and 21 sponsors participated in this year’s golf tournament. Major event sponsors included: 360 Guarding Inc., Bruce Power, Construction Safety Association of Ontario, HOK, Marco Corporation, Ontario Service Safety Alliance, Stagevision Inc., Strongco Show Services, and T.B. Safety Services.
Hole sponsorship was received from: Canadian Occupational Safety Magazine, Deb Canada, Environmental Science & Engineering Magazine, Goodison Insurance and Financial Services Limited, Human Resources Professionals Association, Investors Group Financial Services Inc., MCR Rental Solutions (www.MCRRentals.com), Municipal Health & Safety Association of Ontario, QMI – SAI Global, TEAM-1 Academy, Transportation Healthy and Safety Association of Ontario, and Turning Technologies Canada.

ATTENTION MEDIA: IAPA is now accepting applications for the 2010 IAPA Russ Ramsay Media Awards for Excellence in Health and Safety Reporting. All Ontario trade and consumer media – print (newspapers or magazines), radio, and television – distributed and broadcast in Ontario are invited to submit pieces of work focusing on workplace health and safety. Universities and colleges are also invited to submit work in the Student Media print and radio categories. Only work published or aired between January 1 and December 31, 2009 will be eligible. For award consideration, all materials must be submitted to IAPA by Tuesday, February 9, 2010.
